caissapriest - GambitBandit -:+

Hi there guys I have read and noted all posts related to this game and have the following to add. My ruling was based up on the understanding that GambitBandit accepted the offer of 10:00 ICC time. I do understand that one interpretation of this acceptance is that Gambitbandit was referring to pacific time (ICC-3) when he made the post. Indeed the maths supports this interpretation, ie. He posted 10:00 in the text but posted 13:00 using the “Post Agreed Time” Button. I am therefore, of the mind to rule that this game should have been played at 13:00 ICC time on Sunday 27 July and that the original auto forfeit post is correct The Statutes (Section 10(F)(i)) states “At the Agreed Game Time both players are expected to be logged in to the chess server present and ready to play…” The automated players’ ICC logs clearly show that GambitBandit was on line and available to play the game during the 30 minute grace period and that caissapriest was not logged in to the ICC server. Furthermore the Statutes (Section 10(F)(iii) states “A player who has not logged in within the 30-minute Grace Period forfeits the game” This statute guides my ruling and I have no option but to award a forfeit loss to caissapriest and will change the score to -:+ In addition, and in accordance with the Statutes (Section 17(A)(i), it is likely that caissapriest will have his reliability rating adjusted by -1. I should make the following additional notes: It is recommended that in future and to avoid the confusion similar to that in this forum, we refrain from using local time and post offers and acceptances using ICC server time I appreciate that caissachess is new to the league, however, the statutes are written, and the league is run, for the fun and enjoyment of ALL players. I hope that you can understand that it is the right of any player to expect his opponent to arrive on time to play the game whether he is a newby or a veteran. One post mentions that the players arranged the game using ICC messages. This is actively discouraged. All negotiations must be evidenced in the forum. Best of luck to you all for the rest of the tourney I-K
